Gray Is Green 62 Lawrence St. #1 New Haven, CT, 06511 Website: http://www.grayisgreen.org |
| Job Description | Gray Is Green: The National Senior Conservation Corps (NSCC) is the go-to organization for people over 65 who are interested in conserving our planet\'s natural resources. The NSCC was founded by a group of retired Yale University professors. Their goal was to help other older Americans \"green up\" their lives and aid them in making their communities more sustainable. They quickly discovered that so-called \"seniors\" around the country are interested in conserving resources and leaving a natural legacy for their grandchildren. Now, with help from the Rockefeller Brothers Fund and the Rockefeller Family Fund, our vision has expanded from greening retirement homes to engaging interested people over 65 in the fight against climate change. Responsibilities: The Education and Outreach intern will be responsible for conceiving, developing and publishing online educational modules for Gray Is Green\'s audience, environmentally-minded retirees. Modules will provide a thorough overview of fundamental environmental issues, such as climate change, renewable energy markets, cap-and-trade, etc... They will be designed as online courses with accompanying materials for group discussion and guides for further, self-directed study. The intern will also contribute regular articles to the Gray Is Green newsletter on national and international environmental developments. |
| Qualifications | The ideal candidate is a graduate student in environmental management, resource management, environmental science, or environmental education, and experience developing educational programs for a variety of audiences. A motivated self-starter with the ability to work creatively and independently under deadline is important. Experience in graphic design, web development, and video editing a plus, but not required. |
| Compensation | This is a full-time, temporary internship located in New Haven, CT. A living stipend of $300/week with housing or $400/week without housing will be provided. The duration of the internship is flexible, beginning in May and ending in August, 2010. |
| How to Apply | Please submit cover letter, resume, and writing sample (if available). Describe in your cover letter how this internship fits with your careers goals and environmental interests. All applications should be submitted. |
